Steve Zack & Laura Abel Discuss Court Funding Crisis on Lawyer2Lawyer Podcast

Courts across the country are laying off staff, limiting hours, and in some cases, suspending jury trials.  Solutions have been difficult to identify, but important work is being done.  In this edition of the Lawyer2Lawyer podcast, two guests, Steve Zack, immediate past president of the American Bar Association, and Laura Abel, interim director of the Justice Program at the Brennan Center for Justice, who is moving to the National Center for Access to Justice as its new Deputy Director (on December 12, 2011), describe the problems and the solutions.  Zack describes the ABA’s Task Force on Preservation of the Justice System, (which he founded), the hearings it has been leading around the country on the crisis in the courts, and the  anticipated release of the Task Force’s final report.  Laura Abel describes the potential value of the Justice Index as a means for building public support for the courts.  Both guests cover many additional subjects.
